A little history on the mule steams from the 18th century when the shoe was a popular indoor shoe style. By the twentieth century, mules were often associated with prostitutes but the ever so influential Marilyn Monroe popularized the shoe and helped break its poor reputation in the early 1950s!
After the mule’s stint in the 50s and early 60s, it re-emerged in the late 1990s, especially as an open-toed style, and began to dominate the shoe market for women.
Fast forward to today, it has evolved into a sandal and has come back around in popularity!
