Though Fashion Week is currently taking London by storm, we here at PinkGrasshopper. are still reeling from the spectacle that was New York City during February 6-13th. Launch NYC is an event during Fashion Week that aims to showcase up-and-coming designers, in more intimate location, as opposed to the beloved craziness of the tents on 66th street.
A featured designer was Daniel Silverstein, a summa cum laude graduate of FIT, and recent contestant of NBC’s Fashion Star (season 2, to be exact) . A huge aspect we love about his work is the “zero waste” approach he takes.
Silverstein has developed techniques to produce high quality couture, without wasting a single thread of fabric. Amazing, right? With regards to the collection itself, the color palette was definitely fitting of the Fall/Winter aesthetic, as it was done in black, white, cream, and burgundy, with a sweet surprise of coral at some points as well.
Gothic murals played out in black and white on multiple tunics and dresses, while thick ropes were tied together to make slouchy sweaters, perfect for an early evening outing in September.
Take a look below for quite a few looks from the collection, and tell us who you could see wearing them, or better yet, which you could see yourself rocking! We love to hear from you!
