Denim on denim is in super trend mode right now and although our favorite celebs make it look easy to wear, it’s actually a little tricky to coordinate double denim. All denim is not created equal so to pull off a the double denim trend, all of your pieces should match in some way. Here’s what I mean:
The color of the denim and texture should be similar so that your look is cohesive and chic!
I played around with the double denim style, wearing the same denim button-up top two different ways: once with a distressed skirt and silver metallic heels and another time with high-waist flare jeans!
Both looks are chic, classic and eye-catching as both the skirt and flare jeans are unique in their own right!
Notice how I found denim bottoms that match color-wise with my denim top. Also note that all of the denim pieces are on the softer side of denim fabric and texture, making for a perfect denim match!
This helps bring my entire look full circle and even had a few folks asking whether or not my flare jeans outfit was a jumpsuit! Which, I wasn’t mad at!
Try your style at denim on denim and keep in mind a few creative tips:
1. Match your denim’s color and fabric-type
2. Choose one classic denim piece (like my button up shirt) and pair with something more edgy (like flare jeans)
3. Try to creatively amp-up your look with subtle stylish “fixings” (like I did with the arm cuff on the outside of my shirt sleeve or how I tied my top in a front knot)
4. Pair with jewelry to give your denim a chic upgrade
