Despite being sworn off by the fashion world in recent years the Birkenstock has made a comeback this summer. Not only has it reentered the fashion forefront, but it has become one of the season’s biggest trends and has been the inspiration behind designs by Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, and Zara. Yes, it’s safe to say the “ugly-cute” sandal is back and bigger than ever!
The reasoning behind the Birkenstock nicknames of “ugly-cute” and “pretty ugly” are self-evident. To put it lightly, the sandal is not exactly visually appealing. However, there are other aspects of the Birkenstock that are worth appreciating // It can be worn with pretty much anything from jeans, to shorts, to dresses (midi, maxi, skater), or skirts. Also it adds a chic touch to whatever it is worn with, even a simple outfit. And my personal favorite aspect of the sandal? COMFORT! 🙂
If you still aren’t impressed with the Birkenstock sandal , there are alternatives! Here are other slip-on sandals that offer the same touch of chic, style and comfort.
