After Rihanna gave us a rather…”’round the way” preview of Alexander Wang x H&M on a paparazzi-encrusted “casual stroll” a couple weeks back, our appetites were more than whet in anticipation for the full collection!
Super sporty, with a dash of sass, Mr. Wang went with a primary color palette of graduating degrees of grayscale, using its many different shades to play on theme and variation. Structured outerwear, figure hugging body-com dresses, and the omnipresent crop top are staples throughout, and just from the collections lookbook, we are already getting visions of the many different directions these pieces will be taken in for street style!
As for the debut of the collection itself, the soirée lived up to the sporty theme of the collection! It was held in the Fort Washington Avenue Armory, housed in the Washington Heights neighborhood (that I live in, oh hey!), which is now the home of the Track and Field Hall of Fame. Guests were even greeted with popcorn, beer, and those nostalgic foam fingers, to further drive home the theme.
Some of our favorite Ebony Eves were in attendance, including Mary J. Blige, Solange, and Missy Elliott even performed a beloved bop of ours, “Get Ur Freak On”!

Oh! and in case you’re wondering how to get your hands on this coveted collection, be sure to be at an H&M collection before the store opens. Try to pick a location that is not so popular, one that is likely to have the collection (you can call first to confirm) but one that is not the most popular near you!
OR you can glue your finger tips to the computer and as soon at midnight hits EST you can purchase the collection online and get it in the mail by Saturday! It’s much like trying to snatch Beyonce concert tickets before they’re sold out!
